Googling is a waste of time

You hear me? It’s a waste of time! How so? Well let me explain it a little bit. I am not talking about using Google correctly, but rather they way that people today tend to use Google. The company itself is a huge success and albeit it has had some flops (Google Wave, anyone?) it has all in all created a suite that has made the former software giants tremble in their boots. Kudos to em I say! But, the term ”googling” has surfaced for a reason. It is used instead... Read More

Facelift

Well, as you may have noticed this one has been very stagnant for a while. The reason for this is a secondary blog that I am working on wich mainly consist of guides, tips and tricks regarding technical matters ranging from simple things as digital TV to IPV6. The blog itself can be found here: http://www.tekniskt.se It is a corroboration of several of my colleagues and is written in swedish, wich for me is quite the change seeing as I mainly write in english, albeit bad english,... Read More

And it really gets me going.

A few posts back I started ranting about ”Googlebrains”. Well, the more I think about it, the more the term catches on. Think about it. What is happening with the surfing on the web? It is no longer surfing as it was, its now ”Googling” and really, you can build a new browser without an adress field, because really, people seems to not care what a domain name is, you can now collect every single frigging website within googles server and rename the internet... Read More

Googlebrains…

It is the new term for people who cant think for themselves but use google for pretty much everything and usually using it wrong! It is really really annoying to give someone a specific url, and they GOOGLE the url! Well, you will end up at the wrong place, trust me on that one and the only thing that will happen is that the person who is telling you the adress, will only get frustrated at your inability to understand how to use a URL. I have, today alone, ran into several things... Read More

Service Unavailable….

E-mail, Cellphone, Facebook, Twitter, IM clients. And to make things worse, all those things are crosscombined. Are we ever truly unavailable? Think about it for a second. I know I am available pretty much 24/7 through either one of these things and it really bugs me sometimes. Those that knows me a little better knows that I have a slight aversion to phones, still I work in an area where phones is a tool of the trade, but I handle pretty well I think. Is this new form of availability... Read More

Sights on Google usage

excessive googling. Working as tech support, you sometimes notice impact of things to a higher extent than what you think would be possible. A good example is Google. When you are sitting with a client on the phone and you give them a URL to visit to solve their problems, or, something that they need to download to ensure security, and VERY often, they put a cursor up at the adress field, and then types www.google.com and THEN searches for the URL on google…. What the hell... Read More
